Spearman's Campaign 2
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
Welcome to Spearman's Campaign 2!
This is a 2D Isometric adventure game set in a medieval fantasy world mainly by Luke Pruis. It has a playtime of roughly 5-10 hours, although this depends massively on how much you die, as it is a relatively hard game where new players could die over 100 times.
In Spearman's Campaign 2 you play as John, a young man wielding a spear (hence the name of the game), and wearing a gambeson (medieval fabric armor). He ventures into a forest controlled by Lord Carl Johnson in order to get revenge for the death of his family at the hands of Carl's men. John has to fight his way through a variety of enemies across three main areas, and go through some mazes too.
There is one core principle that is important throughout the game: Everyone plays by the same rules. You aren't somehow more powerful than the enemies just because you're the protagonist, and attempting to fight enemies head on will result in a likely death. You must use strategies against all enemies in order to win, along with equipment obtained along the way.
Also thank you to Tiger Bland and Nicolas Cookson, who have helped me in certain areas such as creating sprites and music, although this is still mostly a solo project, and it should be obvious where they have designed sprites (I'm no artist, and I use PowerPoint for my sprites)
This is partially based off of my previous game Spearman's Campaign 1, in particular Lightwood, the first area, is meant to be a remodeled version of Spearman's Campaign 1. However, this is not a direct sequel, with the events of Spearman's Campaign 1 not happening in this game, and the games are overall quite different in terms of style and gameplay, with SC1 being a 2D platformer. Also, if you like this game, don't play SC1, I consider it to be a bad game created when I was less experienced, while this one is alright at the very least.
I also plan to create a remastered version of this game with improved animations and bonus features that I considered too complex or hard to implement to add to the original version, along with feedback from this game.
I used ChatGPT to generate a small amount of code to help me, but only when I didn't know how to do it myself, and usually checked other online sources first, so overall I wrote around 98~99% of the code myself.

Install instructions
For all versions, unzip the file.
For Windows, open the file my clicking the "Spearman's Campaign 2" .exe file. Don't make the mistake of clicking on the "UnityCrashHandler64" file instead, that won't do anything.
For Linux, go to the file "Spearman's Campaign 2 V1.0 Linux.x86_64" and make sure it is allowed to execute as a program by right clicking and going to Properties -> Permissions -> Execute and checking "Allow executing file as program", or however your distro does that
